Where do you get your information?
We obtain statistics from governments, trade associations,
film institutes, box office reporting agencies and similar organisations,
subscribe to the trade press, search the internet and so on. Also
we conduct our own surveys, for example each year we survey ticket
prices in UK cinemas, and build unique databases. We also contact
a large number of exhibitors, distributors and other market participants
each year, to check facts, canvass views and get an idea of forward
plans. We collect and review large amounts of financial information,
either from listed companies' annual reports or from company registries
where these exist. All this material is cross-checked, built in
to models and validated. back to top
Who buys your reports?
Anyone with a commercial interest in theatrical exhibition:
exhibitors, film distributors, film producers, suppliers to the
industry, whether of equipment or consumables, the financial sector,
real estate concerns, consulting firms, advertising agencies, industry
sponsors, government and trade bodies. These can range from very
large companies to very small ones. back to top
What if the information I need
isn't in your report?
Keeping our reports to a manageable length means we
often have additional information in our files. Client enquiries
about particular bits of data are welcome and typically we don't
charge for answering such questions, or advising where data we don't
have might be available. We can meet more extensive requests through
our custom research activity. back

How can I be sure I'm not buying
out-of-date research?
Most of our research is updated annually. If you buy
a research report and we publish a new edition within three months
you will automatically be sent a copy, at no extra charge. back

Can I talk to your analysts?
Yes. We frequently talk to clients about issues that
come up in their projects, occasionally over the course of several
phone calls. It is part of our service. back to top
Can your service be customized
to meet my exact requirements?
Yes, we can create customized packages to your specification.

Can I use your reports for my
own internal and external presentations and reports?
Our research is copyright but your site licence provides
for unlimited use internally; externally the doctrine of 'fair use'
applies. This allow any use you are likely to want to make, for
example, preparing an IPO document. If you are unsure, call the
office. We invariably give permission for any use short of substantial
re-publication. back to top
Can I give copies to my
banking partners or consultants?
Not unless this is agreed beforehand. As a general
rule outside organsations should acquire their own copies of the
research from us. If you want to place a bulk order on behalf of,
for example, a loan syndicate, we can usually negotiate a discount.

How does the site licence
work?
Our standard site licence which applies to all our
research products provides for unlimited use by employees at the
delivery address site. The licence allows the making of unlimited
digital or paper copies as long as these remain in the possession
of site employees, including on their laptops or home computers.
You can also buy a multi-site licence which allows the same use
at up to four designated sites. It costs twice as much as the cost
of the standard single site licence which is shown for each product
throughout the site. If neither of these packages work for you,
contact customer
service for a solution. back to top
What does Dodona mean?
Dodona in northern Greece is the site of the oldest
recorded oracle dating from around 3000 BC. Homer in the Iliad describes
the three priestesses as barefoot; they are said to have received
their divinations through the clinking of bronze vessels hung in
the branches of the trees, the cooing of doves, and the rustling
of the oak leaves. There were no recorded major financial crises
in this era. back to top
